REVIEW: SYGMALIFT – SINGAPORE’S NEW FACELIFT TREATMENT
So..I was pretty blown away by the results of Kowayo Aesthetic’s HiQueen treatment (You can read my previous blog post about it here) and decided to go back for a follow-up session because.. who’d mind looking like a better and younger of themselves amirite, especially when it involves almost no pain, zero down time, and really I can only think of good things that came out of it. The HiQueen treatment successfully lifted my saggy cheeks and reduced those nasty nasolabial lines and shaved years of neglect (neglect as in I neglected my face by failing to take care of my skin) off my face, and I. wanted. more. Well, more within reason I guess. I’m not trying out these treatments to look like a teenager again, and it’s more about being the best possible version of myself and putting my best face forward (plus, I was a pimply teenager, so, no thanks, I’m not going back there again).
During my consult with Dr Wong, he took a look at all the saggy parts that needed lifting, and (possibly remembering my low tolerance for discomfort) introduced me to Kowayo’s latest addition to their list of available treatments – SygmaLift.
WHAT IS SYGMALIFT
The reason why Dr Wong recommended that I give this treatment a try, is because, similar to HiQueen, Sygmalift is a non invasive facelift treatment that employs the use of HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound) technology to promote the production of collagen, while stimulating fat breakdown, resulting in a gentle facial remodelling (think slimmer v shaped jawline, and lifted cheeks). It works by depositing concentrated ultrasound energy in focal lines, targeting larger surface areas, so the treatment time for SygmaLift is pretty fast, ranging from 15 – 60 minutes. Because of its fractionated emission of ultrasound energy, SygmaLift is also completely pain-free, as compared to HiQueen which was mildly uncomfortable to me. While I describe it as mild discomfort, I do have some memory of non-stop yakking to Dr Wong and forcing him to indulge in senseless conversation with me just so that I can evade the imagery of my teeth possibly falling out during the session. Yes I have a weird obsession about my teeth. Falling out.)
MY SYGMALIFT EXPERIENCE
Unlike HiQueen, SygmaLift was administered by a therapist instead of Dr Wong, and I was led into a spa-like, dim room and given a change into a comfy, fluffy robe. Next, the therapist analysed and spoke to me about my problem areas and where she’d be concentrating most of the SygmaLift efforts on. There was a even more effective “fat loss” setting which was deemed unnecessary for me, but it’d be a pretty good option for those looking to reduce more chin fat to achieve a more V shaped face. At this point I must say that I really appreciated how open the lines of communication were – even though I’d already spoken to Dr Wong about my problem areas, it was nice speaking to the therapist to know that we were exactly on the same page, as she explained what she was about to do, and what it did for my face.
The treatment began with the therapist giving my face a good cleanse to remove all traces of makeup, and then applying gel on the targeted areas before starting zapping at my face with the ultrasound.. zapper? I have no idea what it’s called, and if you need help visualising, it resembles a handheld barcode scanner that you see at the supermarket checkout counters.
After completing the ultrasound treatment on my face in zones, the session was rounded off with a short blast of cold laser, which increases the rate of collagen synthesis, and in my case, also helped to remove some acne scars that I had on my chin area then!
To describe the session as comfortable is an understatement. The entire process was oddly relaxing and I would have dozed off if not for the fact that I was trying to film the process down. It took about 40 minutes to complete, and I attribute that to my larger-than-normal face, as treatment times vary from 15 – 60 minutes between individuals.
Similar to HiQueen, the results take some time to show, and I saw visible results within 2-3 weeks after the treatment, I do feel that the results from HiQueen were more immediate, whereas for SygmaLift, the results came more gradually in comparison . Here are some before and after images that I took before the session, as well as 3 weeks, and 5 weeks after:
Before Kowayo Sygmalift
3 Weeks after Kowayo SygmaLift – slight lifting of saggy cheeks, and reduced chin fat.
5 Weeks after Kowayo SygmaLift – here, the results are more pronounced, the lifting effect is more visible as my damned nasolabial lines seem to have faded. Also, don’t know if it’s just me, but I think my face looks sharper and more V-shaped!
