REVIEW: L’OCCITANE Reine Blanche Whitening Sleeping Mask
After reviewing Laneige’s water sleeping mask, I’ve become so much more aware about the benefits of using a sleeping mask. After all, there’s not much science to it, you just slap some on your face, go to bed, and it basically does all the work for you while you snooze.
The product I’m trying out today is L’Occitane’s Reine Blanche Whitening Sleeping Mask – and honestly, they got me with the word “whitening”. Anything with the words whitening, and pore minimizing – I will just gravitate towards. Not because I desire to be fairer skinned, but because I tend to pick at my face a lot, and I’m always on the lookout for a good product to lighten those damned scars.
L’OCCITANE Reine Blanche Whitening Sleeping Mask
The sleeping mask is part of L’Occitane’s Reine Blanche Illuminating Program, created using the Reine des Pres / Meadowsweet, a pure white flower known for its lightening properties, for a fair and translucent complexion.
The formula is enriched with the Reine Blanche Complex, made with natural botanical derivatives, and contains vitamin C which whitens the skin, and Scutellaria Baicalensis flower extracts which aids the skin in fighting daily skin aggressors like pollution. The formula is gradually released into the skin overnight, which means it’s working all the time while you sleep!
The mask is meant to be used daily, and if used diligently, it will help with the following:
- Diminish the appearance of dark spots
- Lighten skin tone, for clearer, more translucent skin
- Strengthen the skin and enhanced protection against daily aggressors
- Soothes skin from stress and pollution damage
- Hydration for 24 hours
The Packaging
One thing I like about L’Occitane products is how luxe their products look and feel. The mask comes in a large white pearlescent glass jar, with a metallic tin cover with the brand embossed on top. It comes with a spatula for you to scoop the product with so you won’t have to dip your fingers in the jar.
The Product
The product comes in a refreshing and lightweight gel-cream form, which melts easily into the skin. All scent lovers, rejoice – it smells really pretty, and calming, so it’d soothe you into a good night’s rest.
How to use
So while this is a sleeping mask, you do not actually slap it on and go to bed. It will have to be wiped off after 10 mins, and is meant to be used as the last step of your skincare routine before bedtime. Here’s how the product is meant to be used:
- To use, apply a thick layer onto clean, dry skin, avoid the eye area
- You can choose to either massage it in, or just leave the mask on
- After 10 minutes, gently wipe off the excess product off your skin, do not rinse
Price: $114 for a 100ml jar
