REVIEW: Rimmel The Only 1 Matte Lipsticks
The Only 1 Matte Lipstick?
Rimmel is a brand that I’ve heard so many things about, but never tried before because it wasn’t previously available in Singapore. I do use the Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder which was gifted by my girlfriend who lives in Manchester, which I absolutely love, but other than that, I’m a total Rimmel-noob.
The new Rimmel The Only One Matte Lipstick (phew, that’s a mouthful) is available in 9 new show-worthy shades, and is priced at SGD$18.90 at all Watsons stores. This matte lip shade boasts a non-drying formula that’s comfortable on the lips, with a high impact colour and a flawless matte finish.
Ah-mazing colour
On first swipe, it’s obvious that the colour payoff on this lipstick is beyond ah-mazing. The lipstick has a creamy, velvety texture which filled even the little crevices and wrinkles on the lips for a very flawless and even finish.
Here’s an arm swatch of the shades I’ve got; there’s one missing shade because I (SADLY!) misplaced it, but I’m really impressed with the ones I have on hand.
Show-stoppingly bold shades
The shades are very current, and show-stoppingly bold, and these will make the perfect lipsticks for the girl on the go, who doesn’t have too much time for touch-ups. The nudes were beautifully done, and my favorite shades are #120 Leader Of The Pink, #200 Salute, and #610 High Flyer. Believe it or not, these swatches were done with just one swipe, that’s how awesome the colour payoff is for these lippies.
So What do I think?
Compared to liquid matte lipsticks, the colour endurance is definitely lower, but its somewhat creamy texture feels incredibly comfortable, and does not dry out the lips like most of its liquid counterparts. Don’t get me wrong though, the staying power is definitely not lacking at all.
For the most part of my test- the lip shade remained budge-proof, and a less intense pigment still remained on the lips after eating and drinking.
Because of its non-drying formula, I’d think that this is a good alternative for people with dry/chapped lips, who’d like to try out the matte lip trend without looking thirsty or crusty. The problem is real, I have a girlfriend who often has chapped lips, and it is a struggle to find suitable lipsticks that’ll stay put AND feel comfortable while it’s on.
Price: $18.90
Where to buy: All Watsons stores
Is it worth purchasing: A resounding yes
